Story[]
Lin Zexu was an ethical Qing statesman. He received quality education early despite a poor family and began his career as an official at 26. During his tenure, he reorganized the salt industry and opened granaries to help civilian disaster victims. His honesty and integrity was ridiculed by peers, driving him to quit in anger and returned home. Appreciating Lin's conduct, Emperor Daoguang broke the rule and restored him to post, also sending him Guangzhou. In the struggle against foreigners, Lin noticed a prevalent lack of knowledge about the opposition, so he began actively collecting and translating foreign publications while advocating 'Use the enemy's advantage to beat them at their own game.' He was framed and persecuted in the following war, ultimately relieved of duty by the emperor.
