Story[]
Li Wei was a famous, honest, and compassionate Qing elder statesman who served the reigns of Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong. He was borderline illiterate in his youth and got his first official position by donating money to the government. It is said he would speak out against injustice done by superiors even when he was a junior official, thereby catching the then-prince Yongzheng's attention. After Yongzheng took the throne, Li was elevated to the senior statesman status. Yet, Li remained sympathetic to the plight of civilians and a prolific bane of burglars, as he captured and executed the most infamous thief during a tenure in Zhejiang. However, he would still frequently get a tongue lashing from the emperor for being overly righteous
